Awarding orders and medals to police officers of the Voronezh province in the late 19th and early 20th centuries

Annotation

The scientific article describes the process of awarding orders and medals to Voronezh police officers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Information about the awarding of Voronezh police officers in the pre-revolutionary period is contained in the State Archive of the Russian Federation (GA RF). Among the awarded Voronezh police officers were district police officers, bailiffs, assistants to the bailiff of the city unit, senior policemen, police officers, police officers for hire and messengers of the district police department. Practically, awards of orders and medals of the Russian Empire covered all categories of police officers of the Voronezh province. Actually, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Voronezh Province police had an extensive infrastructure and solved the most diverse tasks of solving crimes and maintaining public order. Accordingly, different service categories of Voronezh police officers were awarded by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Empire. All awards of Voronezh police officers were submitted for consideration to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Empire by the Voronezh Governor, who himself was an employee of the mentioned Russian department. After that, the police officer was awarded a state award. Thanks to information about the awarding of orders and medals to Voronezh police officers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it is possible to get an idea of the directions of their professional activities.
