Rational and emotional in the aesthetics and artistic practice of imagism

Annotation

The article considers the rational and emotional in the aesthetics and artistic practice of imagism. The analysis of the theoretical works by imagists and their poetry allows us to make the following conclusions: in their aesthetic declaration and manifests in artistic work they take a stand for the priority of the rational over the emotional, but in their poems and verses this concept is not strictly preserved, domination of emotional concepts constantly occur. Dialectics of the rational and emotional frequently becomes the topic of their creative work, impossibility of life without the emotional defines the inner drama of their persona.
