Article is devoted to creative work of the outstanding Russian publicist and public figure I.S. Aksakov. Authors give the analysis of its correspondence with relatives in which his general and private relation to Astrakhan as the major provincial city of those years was reflected. Article is intended for historians, culturologists and political scientists taking up the problems of the Caspian region.
