The article deals with the issues of preservation and development of national and Islamic identity as a source in which a person finds the vital meanings that form the basis of his self-consciousness, the spiritual content of his being. Emphasizing national feelings, religious values, people stand for the integrity of their consciousness and behavior. The centuries-old experience of neighboring residence of representatives of different nationalities and religions in the Republic of Tatarstan has formed a tradition of intercultural communication.</p></abstract><abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The problem of identity is of great importance for modern society.
