In the article the author considers the features of the modern elite of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the context of changes in international politics and the new round of aggravation of relations with the West. The object of the study is the political elite of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The subject of the study is events that have led to a deterioration in relations with the West. The purpose of this article is to analyze the established political system in IRI, define the internal political antagonists and their goals in the domestic and foreign policy of Iran.
