The article considers the issue and prospects of usage of the semiotic method in studying political phenomena and processes, and how well this method is developed in the purpose of studying political character. The researcher distinguishes the notions of «reality, which is understood as an entitative world of phenomena, and «actuality», which is a comprehended reality. The article presents the possibilities to use semiotic approach to both studying genetic bases of the political discourse, and application of the results in further research. In the author's view the peculiar features of studying political discourse are the following: variety of ways to understand the sense, purposeful complication of the levels of interpreting political events, as well as high temporal intensity of semiotic texts recoding. Creation of such levels conceals the initial semiotic text or obscures it and presents its more adequate interpretations as viewpoints, where all the positions are equally valuable and equally eligible. This procedure helps to reveal not just separate variants of representation, but even creation of a kind of semiotic «worlds» of a deontic character, which are of high relevance.
