The article discusses the relationship between the two phenomena of political life: «war»and «democracy» in the course of historical development of society. The author analyses the causal and other relations that connects them. He attempts to justify the regularity of the presence of war in all types of societies, including democratic ones, and to find the grounds for its eventual disappearance (the concept of democratic peace, etc.). Special attention is paid to the question of possibility of complete elimination of wars in democratic governance. He considers the validity of the democratic peace theory, which is one of the key prerequisites of building a doctrine of U. S. foreign policy. The article presents the views of various authors about the possibility of eliminating war. The impact of globalization on war and military conflicts are an important time of the study. The paper considers the possibility of existence/disappearance of wars in the future.
