The study of the demographic potential of the youth, understanding of the changes in the demographics of the youth group at the regional level, are of great scientific theoretical and practical significance. Modern living conditions have an impact on values and moral guidance of young people, depending on many factors, including the region of residence and social groups to which they belong. Young people are a hidden resource and chief agent of social change taking place in the country. The aim of the study is to analyze statistical indicators of demographic indicators of youth as a social group in the period from 2005 to 2014. The main source of information is the official statistics of the Territorial Department of the Federal State Statistics Service of the Astrakhan region. The article presents a comparative analysis of demographic and migration processes at all levels occurring in the youth group. The study author concludes that the region has been a recent decline in the number of young people, the birth rate is increasing, and morbidity and mortality of young people declines, the number of cohabitation and children born in wedlock. Analysis of regional demographic processes occurring in youth increases the representativeness and effectiveness of their forecasting regional youth policy.</p></abstract><abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article analyzes the regional characteristics of demographic characteristics of young people in the Astrakhan region.
