The article makes an effort to designate crucial directions in the study of his heritage. First of all, it is the study of his scientific research methodology. The author reveals that R. Dahl as a researcher belongs to the behaviorist school of thought; however, many of his researches go beyond the study of the political behavior. Secondly, it is the study of Dahl's approach to the problematics of political power. Dahl's situation analysis of division of powers in New Haven and the discussion caused by his proceedings are of interest to the researchers. Thirdly, it is the study of Dahl's approach to the problematics of the democracy. The author shows that Dahl's approach, in a sense, unites the principles of descriptive and normative approaches to the interpretation of the democracy. Fourthly, as the author demonstrates, Dahl's ideas about the issues connected with the dynamics of the democracy such as: criterions of democratic process, compatibility of democracy and free market, extra-constitutional grounds of the democratic order, opportunities of the «cosmopolitan democracy» are of interest.</p></abstract><abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article is dedicated to the memory of the eminent political scientist Robert Alan Dahl, died in 2014, and aged 98.
