In this article, the author refers to the actual problem - volunteering. Indicated on the priority position popularize the idea of volunteerism among young people. The author analyzes the perception of Russians volunteering non-profit organizations. The statistical material of polls by FOM, VCIOM, Levada Center is given. The paper classifies the population of Russia in terms of social activism on the bases of survey conducted in 43 regions of Russia: "real activity", "virtual activity" and "lack of public activity." The characteristics of each group are given. The causes of low level of dobrovlchestva in modern Russia are analyzed.
