In connection with the increased level of political participation by young Russian student author explores values, motivation, knowledge about democracy in student community in the Republic of Bashkortostan using questionnaire, system and structural and functional analysis. One of the main conclusions of the paper is that students are not sure of its political role, has no systematic knowledge about democracy and its procedures, inclined to radicalism, however, they have a democratic potential and desire to contribute to the democratization process, preferring the direct model of democracy.
