The article is devoted to the issue of searching the national idea of the RF. National idea is the matter of the future of a country, its success and prosperity. We should not forget that Russia is multinational and the experience of the recent Soviet past proved that if the role of national factor is underestimated it can pose a threat to the integrity of a multinational state. In the conditions of growing national identity the searching of new forms of international relations becomes an urgent task. The measures, providing for decrease of tension in international relations, decrease of the conflicts on the inter-ethnic grounds and, as a result, enhancement of national security should be developed. National idea can become a consolidating factor only if it reflects all the diversity of the interests of the peoples of Russia.
