The article is devoted to the questions of interrelation of intellectual elite and elites of power in the process of geopolitical thought forming. The author examines the dynamics of development of scientific and ideological approaches in development of recent geopolitical thought. The description of some modern geopolitical conceptions which cause most criticism and fears at present is given in this work, and also some ideas which can somehow prevent criminalization of geopolitical thought are expressed.
