The author supposes that the concept "democracy" gets the new sense nowadays under pressure of new challenges of the XXI century. Correlation of different types of democracy, correlation of democracy and stability, democracy and economic growth, democracy and human's rights are worthy of notice. Parliamentary democracy must take the leading position in modern society. Democracy must be deeply echeloned in different courses, forms and kinds. The author thinks that detraction of the role of international institutes, practice of the double standards and danger of unification of the modern world are considered to be the reflection of the most serious challenges of democracy.
