The author regards three possible ways of deciding this problem, which suggests Russian and western political science: a maintenance of empire's ambitions succeeded by modern Russia to Russian empire and USSR (&amp;quot;neoliberal empire&amp;quot;), a building of nation state and an integration in the world society. The last way supposes acception of western's &amp;quot;rules of games&amp;quot;, that notes refusal from empire's ambitions. This partnership with safe-keeping of national identity is the only possible way for Russia.</p></abstract><abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article is devoted to the examination of modern views on the relations between Russia and world society in the conditions of globalization.
