The article is devoted to the examination of modern views on the relations between Russia and world society in the conditions of globalization. The author regards three possible ways of deciding this problem, which suggests Russian and western political science: a maintenance of empire's ambitions succeeded by modern Russia to Russian empire and USSR ("neoliberal empire"), a building of nation state and an integration in the world society. The last way supposes acception of western's "rules of games", that notes refusal from empire's ambitions. This partnership with safe-keeping of national identity is the only possible way for Russia.
