The investigators usually connect the appearance of these traditions with the dissemination of Islam among the population of the Golden Horde in the middle of the XIV

Basing on the results of statistical analysis of burial rites of that historical period the author makes a conclusion about the absence of statistically reliable connection between burials in the under-tumulus fences and the process of islamization.
