In this article it is considered the question about the comprehension system of the Islam's integrative role in the social-cultural space in the South of Russia. The Islam's essence is specified from the position of an approaching method and is compared with the others ideological sources, which determine the integration of this region. It is considered also the concept «Social-cultural space» and its specificity on North Caucasus, as well as specific mechanisms of the formation of a regional social-cultural space by the centers of the Russian and Islamic cultural worlds.
